Summary
Combining high-quality beneficial ownership (BO) data in a linked data format with other datasets to help detect potential risks during customer due diligence, know your customer checks, and sanctions screening processes.
Aims of project
- Explore and develop use cases to demonstrate value of linked BO data for risk and compliance:
- finding sanctioned people or entities linked to tenders (video);
- identifying beneficial owners controlling a large number of companies with public contracts (video);
- spotting corporate holdings/networks with large numbers of public contracts; (video)
- considering whether the relatives of a sanctioned ultimate beneficial owner are also sanctioned, and whether OO can flag those indirect risks for companies further down the ownership chain; (video)
- ensuring the same registered address with a risk entity (video) – has an exact match between OpenSanctions and Open Ownership (OO) addresses.
- Demonstrate the value of the Beneficial Ownership Data Standard (BODS) RDF vocabulary and turn BODS JSON data into a graph database format like RDF.
